To Help Jordanians Pick the Political Parties that Best Aligns with their Priorities
Following the recommendations of the Royal Committee to Modernize the Political System and the enactment of the Political Parties Law (Law No. 7 of 2022), NAMA Strategic Intelligence Solutions proudly announced the launched the Political Parties Monitor, featuring the innovative Tawajohat Platform. The online platform is designed to empower Jordanians by helping them identify political parties best align with their views on key issues thereby enhancing informed participation in the political process.
The launch comes at a critical moment for Jordan’s political landscape. A NAMA poll conducted in August 2024 projects a 38.82% voter turnout for the 2024 parliamentary elections in September, with fewer than 60% of those voters expected to cast ballots for a political party. This data reveals a significant disconnect between the electorate and political parties, highlighting a lack of awareness of party platforms and their roles in shaping public policy. Moreover, a 2022 survey by NAMA revealed that many Jordanians feel far more represented politically by tribes than any other political or social institution, including political parties.
This trend of political disengagement stems from a mix of factors, including low confidence in government and economic insecurity. These conditions necessitate a strategic intervention that fosters voter engagement and bridges the widening gap between the public and the political process, ensuring that the new reforms lead to meaningful and sustained engagement.
To address this, the Tawajohat Platform offers a user-friendly platform that guides voters in identifying the political parties that align most closely with the personal ideologies and policy priorities. By engaging 35 political parties directly through 42 targeted questions, NAMA obtained transparent, candid responses on each party’s positions across six key areas: economic policy, national security and foreign policy, social welfare, civil society and legal framework, women and youth, and environment and energy.
The Tawajohat Survey provides Jordanian users with a list of political parties that best reflect their views, helping them make informed decisions about voting in parliamentary, local, and municipal elections, participating in party activities, as well as considering party membership.
Through this platform, NAMA aims to enhance political awareness and promote meaningful political participation in Jordan, ensuring that recent reforms lead to lasting engagement and a more vibrant democracy.
